A Clinical Study of Gallstone Characteristics in the Diagnosis of Choledocholithiasis





Abstract
A total of 123 patients of cholelithiasis, who were admitted and received operation at the Dept. of General Surgery, P.N.U.H., during the past 8 years from Jan. 1963 to Dec. 1970, were clinically reviewed. And the following results were obtained.
1. The frequency of choledocholithiasis with various forms of choleliti iasis.was 21.3%.
2. The most high frequency of choledocholithiasis with -cholelitluasis. Was in group of- patients:.
having many small gallstones and it was 25:4% of all patients.
3. The more gallstones in its number and the smaller gallstones in itss size, the probability of.
choledocholithiasis with various types of gallstones was higher.
4. Odds of patients having common duct stones with many small gallstones was the most high (4 : 1) and with solitary large gallstones was the lowest (26.: 1).
5. The frequency of choledocholithiasis without the, symptoms of gallstone was only 4.9%,
while with the symptoms was much higher than former(53. 3%).
